KINDERGARTEN NEWSLETTER READING We will use the book, Shoes Like Miss Alice, to teach the skills of making predictions, recognizing the beginning sound of w, identifying opposites, blending syllables to make words, identifying high frequency words, and recognizing words with the same beginning sounds. Look for homework this week. MATH We are working on different ways to make the numbers 4,5,6,7,8,9,10. We will also begin addition in the vertical form. Look for homework this week. RELIGION We will discuss how Jesus is with us always and is a good friend to us. Look for homework this week. CLASS NEWS Field Day is on Wednesday. Please dress your child in their team color. A water bottle with their name on it will be needed for the day. Please encourage your child to participate in all activities. Kindergarten will be doing the Mass this Wednesday. KINDERGARTEN NEWSLETTER READING We will use the book, On The Go, to teach the skills of classifying means of transportation, recognize the beginning and medial sound of o, recognize high frequency words, and recognize the main idea of a story. Look for homework this week. MATH We will be working on time to the hour and half hour. We will begin with practicing on small clocks. Later this week or next week we will work on the workbook pages. Homework will be sporatic during this time of learning. RELIGION We will talk about the Last Supper and how the bread and wine becomes the Body and Blood of Christ. A Story of Migration, to teach the skills of left to right progression, plural nouns, the initial sound of hard g, how to make an announcement, identify the main idea of a story, blend and segment words and talk about the setting and plot of the story. Look for homework all week. Please add my and we to your child's vocabulary list. MATH We are talking about capacity and weight this week. We are talking about hot and cold and tools used for measuring. RELIGION Our topic for this week is praying. Please contiue to work with your child on the Our Father prayer. Have a sunny week! Ms. B
Kindergarten Newsletter READING This week we will use the story, In The Rain With Baby Duck, to t each the skills of using the title and illustrations in the story to make predictions, recognize setting and plot, recognize the initial sound of d, identify high frequency words, listen for details, blend sounds into words, and use describing words. Look for books this week. MATH We have begun a unit on measurement. We will talk about longer and shorter, near and far, use nonstandard units to measure objects, use details to solve a problem, and estimate and measure length. Look for homework this week. RELIGION We will talk about how when we are baptized we belong to the church. Please remind your child about the day he/she was baptized. Look for homework this week. SCIENCE Our moth has hatched and our worms are hatching also. We have an earthworm nursery in our classroom. CLASS NEWS Pizza day on Thursday. Have a great week! Ms. B
Kindergarten Newsletter KINDERGARTEN NEWSLETTER READING We will use the story, Looking for Crabs, to teach the sound of initial L, make predictions, practice being a polite listener, participate in shared writing, setting and plot, and identify high frequency words. Look for readers this week. MATH We will complete the chapter and test on Tuesday with numbers to 100. We will then begin a unit on recognizing pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters and there value. You can help at home by showing these coins to your child and going over their values. Look for homework this week. RELIGION We will learn about the three special days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Saturday. Look for homework on Wednesday. CLASS NEWS The Bishop will be visiting on Wednesday, March 24th. Mass will be on both Tuesday and Friday this week. Children will be dismissed on Friday at 11:00. Have a wonderful spring week! Ms. B
